Solvent Orange 62 is a perinone-class dye with a higher molecular weight than standard azo oranges, which delivers better heat and light stability at the cost of slightly reduced compatibility with aliphatic systems. It dissolves readily in aromatic hydrocarbons — xylene and toluene are the preferred dissolution media — giving stable, haze-free solutions at concentrations relevant to most industrial coatings and plastics applications.

For plastics colouring, pre-disperse the dye in a carrier resin or masterbatch before introduction to the main polymer. For coating systems, dissolve in xylene or ethyl acetate at 40–60°C with continuous stirring before adding to the formulation.
